Since 2008 Theta Alpha's national philanthropy has been Desire Street Ministries. The local chapters host fundraising nights, and other special events to raise money for an organization so close to our hearts. Desire Street Ministries’ purpose is to "seek, educate and engage individuals and organizations with a heart for the inner-city—and coach and care for urban ministry leaders called there to live and work. Our partnership approach encourages, equips, empowers and connects leaders to build effectiveness and sustainability in their efforts towards spiritual and community development."

In the summer of 2014, a group of Theta Alpha sisters traveled to Montgomery, Alabama where they got to experience first hand the work Desire Street Ministries has done in these various impoverished communities. Common Ground, an organization supported by Desire Street, provides after school programs for children living in underprivileged neighborhoods in Montgomery. Here the sisters were able to help the children with homework, share afternoon snacks, and interact with other kids through different sports and activities. The children showed Theta Alpha every reason Desire Street Ministries is so dear to our hearts. For having so much hardship in their communities and homes, they loved so greatly, just as Christians are called to do.
